Lumia 950 XL fast charging comparison - #OPPO, #samsungS7 who wins ?

Windows phone flagship Lumia 950 XL equipped with "USB-C Fast Charging" which can get up to 50% capacity with just 30 minutes of charging. That's very fast till now, as the crown of less charging time has been taken by Chinese phone maker OPPO with their 'Flash Charge' technology. The recently launched Samsung Galaxy S7 also includes fast charging fast charging and its is claimed to charge 81% in 30 min. While the official  Samsung  website says, " Stop waiting for your phone to charge. With fast wireless charging 2 , the Galaxy S7 powers up from 0 to 100% in no time. And with our biggest battery yet 3 , the Galaxy S7 gives you the power to keep going. " Looking at he details it can't be 100% accurate to say that it can charge 81% in just 30 minutes, But still it is fast charging and seems to faster than what Microsoft is offering with Lumia 950 XL. Now let's talk about OPPO, according to  OPPO  website, " A thi...

Microsoft should treat its fans better

After experiencing severe bugginess on my Lumia 950 XL shortly after publishing the review – or simply noticing it more, I went on Amazon.co.uk to check out a few   Lumia 950 XL reviews   for some perspective. I also reached out to people who I now personally that had purchased one of Microsoft’s new devices. The story was the same, the devices were exciting at first, but once the veneer wore off, their bugs became too much to handle. All but one have put aside their 950 and gotten a different device instead. Going on Amazon, the 950 XL has received 27 reviews averaging 3.9 stars (950 only 5). This is an excerpt*[sic implied in all excerpts] from the first 5 star review I looked at “So the insides of this phone are near enough the same of the Sony Z5 and the thing that lets this down is the software. Whilst Windows 10 does work with the odd reboot (the phone hasn’t rebooted whilst I’m using it but I know it has rebooted as the phone tells me when I go to use it) the...

Lumia 950 lags behind other flagship

Lumia 950 lags behind iPhone 6S & Android Flagships in Boot-up & App handling times In a video posted by TechRadar, Lumia 950 is one of the flagship devices compared to other flagship devices including iPhone 6S and Android Flagships like Galaxy S6, LG G4 and Sony Xperia Z5 in terms of Boot-up times and handling of certain apps. While such kind of tests are wrongly termed as speed tests, the video however highlights two exiting drawbacks of Windows 10 Mobile. Long Boot-up time Lack of OS and Third party app’s optimizations While we can understand that Windows 10 Mobile has hardly finished development and should get better with upcoming builds, Microsoft may need to do something to cut on that long boot-up time and also push 3rd party app developers to optimize their apps for Windows 10 Mobile. via

Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL fail to take the Lumia 1520 battery life crown

Battery life is a very important element of the smartphone experience, but has become increasingly less of an issue as phone size increased, as OEMs have been able to stuff larger and larger batteries in their handsets. At 3340 mAh the Lumia 950 XL has one of the largest batteries on a Windows phone, second only to the Lumia 1520 with its 3400 mAH battery. The Lumia 950 still has a pretty large battery at 3000 mAh. This compares very favourably to the 2420 mAh battery in the Lumia 930 for example. The handsets of course also pack some pretty powerful battery drainers, in the form of large, very high resolution Quad HD screens, the latest Snapdragon processors and the still poorly optimised Windows 10 Mobile operating system. Video Playback : Web Browsing Talk Time As can be seen from the results above, despite only having a 10% larger battery than the Lumia 950, the Lumia 950 XL performs a lot better than the 950, particularly when it comes to talk tim...

Lumia 950 XL pre-order sells out in US.

Unlocked Lumia 950 shipping date revealed. Unlocked Lumia 950 Xl went on pre-order recently on Microsoft Store in US. Now, it seems there is no stock left on pre-order as the page reads “Email me when available”. Though considering Microsoft’s past reputation of sold outs, it may either be under-estimation of demand on their behalf or may be the demand has been stellar but stock alloted to US market too low. Anyways, not a happy situation!! Coming to Lumia 950’s unlocked version that has yet not gone on pre-order, the MS Store page shows a shipping by date of November 25. That may hint about the unlocked version soon going on pre-order soon via

Lumia 950/950 XL in Germany 28th November

The Lumia 950 and 950 XL will be available in Germany from the 28th of November The big question for Windows users that has been floating around besides the availability of the Windows 10 Mobile update is the availability of Microsoft’s Lumia 950 and 950 XL devices to customers. While some have used shipping dates from retailers ranging from 3rd of December to 12th of December to hearsay by carrier reps, Microsoft has finally delivered an official date of sorts. Going on rwitter this morning, the Lumia Germany account tweeted that the Lumia 950 and 950 XL would be available from the 28.11.15. Clearly Microsoft isn’t going to release its flagship handsets exclusively or first to Germany, but at least we have a solid baseline for when the flagships should begin to launch. via

Microsoft Lumia 950 Landing November 20 with AT&T

Microsoft's new Lumia 950 is an excellent smartphone. It has Windows 10 Mobile, has a good list of specs, and is even competitively prices. However, we have discussed before how the handset being a success will be a tall order because of hoe limited it is. In the United States the Lumia 950 will be available only through AT&T, with the carrier announcing that the handset will be available from November 20th. Lumia 950 Of course, having the second largest carrier in the United States selling the Lumia 950 will help Microsoft?s cause, but we would have liked more support from Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile. It is hard to see how the 950 will not just become another Windows product that goes largely unnoticed by the consumer.   The device will also be available in Microsoft Stores. As for the Lumia 950 XL, the higher spec?d and larger 950 will only be available through Microsoft, limiting its availability even further. Here we got up close with the Lumi...

Microsoft’s new strategy requires Windows Phone to become BlackBerry

Microsoft today revealed its abysmally low Lumia device sales, coming to a total of just under 6 million devices sold. While we can now say for certain that Microsoft HAS passed 100 million Lumia devices sold, we can also acknowledge that Microsoft most likely doesn’t care about that number. After a year of faffing about with the results of its Nokia buyout, Redmond has finally decided what it’s going to do with Lumia devices, and it’s not simply chasing the high volume smartphone market anymore. Instead, as has been pointed out several times over, they are making a move for the enterprise and productivity segment of society. In other words, Microsoft wants to become the BlackBerry of old, and that’s a good thing. You may be questioning why this is a good thing given the current state of Blackberry – once a major phone maker, now a punch line (though on the brink of s possible renaissance). BlackBerry started off as a well-respected device company that indeed onl...
