Microsoft accidentally updates its Windows 10 ready device list to include Lumia 950 and 950 XL!

The Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL are the two most anticipated and controversial Windows Phone flagship devices in a while, and while they have been leaked and rumoured over a period of time, we have not yet had official confirmation – until now.

The UK Microsoft Windows 10 ready device list which we first pointed out last month has now been updated to include the two devices which will run Windows 10 at launch, confirming the leaked designs, specs and renders as accurate. As speculated, the devices only appear to be available in black and white, and they look pretty slick as well.  Unfortunately, the equally leaked Lumia 550 has yet to make any sort of appearance, hinting at a later release either in winter or early spring.

Have a look at the screenshot below and visit the source link for a first hand look.

BlackBerry shares first official Priv renders

Late last week, BlackBerry didn’t launch its Android-running Priv smartphone, but it may as well have. First the company formally spelled out its intentions for the Priv – confirming the handset’s name – in its latest quarterly financial report. Then we even got to see CEO John Chen give a hands-on demo of a working Priv model.

For a smartphone that had yet to make its official debut, BlackBerry sure was being pretty cavalier about showing the Priv off. As we wait to get full details on the phone, BlackBerry’s continuing that streak with the release of a few Priv renders.

Up top we’ve got the best shot from this new group, highlighting the Priv’s slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Armed with an array of capacitive sensors, the phone lets users slide their fingers over the keys as a sort of trackpad, allowing for device control while keeping the screen unobscured and smudge-free.

Below, that’s joined by a couple side-views of the Priv, emphasizing how relatively thin the phone should be, despite its comparatively complicated construction. Just make sure you’re not too rough on the handset, as that curved glass display is really out there, almost asking to take a scratch.
All neat to see, but what about a real launch? BlackBerry promises “more images, videos and details about PRIV’s specs” soon, not to mention details on when and how the phone can be purchased, but for now these new renders are all we’ve got.

Microsoft Lumia 950 : targeting Apple and Samsung

This year is one for innovation and novelty, and we’ve seen our fair share from both Apple and Samsung in the form of the iPhone 6S family and the Galaxy S6/Note 5 family. The two leading smartphone manufacturers have proven to the community that buying smartphones at a premium comes with actual benefits and that it’s worth it. Microsoft will be doing the same thing if we are to believe all the leaks and reports about its future Microsoft Lumia 950 handset family.

microsoft-lumia-950-lumia-950-xl-price-release-features-stylus

The Microsoft Lumia 950 release date is set on October 6 by the company and the flagship for Windows 10 Mobile will be accompanied by an XL model called the Lumia 950 XL. Both Apple and Samsung performed dual launches in the past year, setting the new bar for expectations across the industry. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched in tandem to cater to those that love standard screens and to those that love large-screen smartphones at the same time. Apple repeated the strategy this year with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

Samsung has been doing the same thing, but with longer release cycles. While the Galaxy S5 was accompanied by the Galaxy Note 4 (a beautiful, top-notch device, mind you), the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were accompanied by the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. All these phones demonstrate that people tend to be split into two sides when it comes to smartphone preference: standard and large.

leaked-lumia-950-display-price

The Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL release will follow suit, with two separate flagships launched to demonstrate the new features that the company introduced to Windows 10 Mobile. The mobile operating system will rely heavily on Cortana, but will also improve performance and user experience by taking a few from Android’s and iOS’ books. The main attractions of the year will still be the phones, though, so those are what we’re curious about.

The official Microsoft Lumia 950 release date is set for October 6, and a considerable amount of leaked photos and documentation has already been revealed to the public. Thanks to the constant flow of information, which cannot be stopped, fans around the world can get an idea of what the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL have to offer before the devices are official.

Knowing so much about the Lumia 950 and its larger sibling allows consumers to decide whether they want to invest in iOS or Android flagships that are already ready to buy or if they should wait until the Microsoft devices are finally official to test out how Windows 10 improves the mobile user experience. That’s because a lot of smartphone users, even iOS ones, are very pleased with the overall Windows 10 experience and want to see what it can do on a mobile interface.

As such, there are enormous expectations of Microsoft and the Lumia 950. These expectations can also be applied to the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 4, the company’s response to Apple’s iPad Pro. The Lumia 950 is the mystery device however, seeing as Microsoft vowed to change things this year. Although the company did not publicly talk about design and specs of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, they made it pretty clear that they’re aware of the stark competition and of what fans want.

That ideology should have lead the company to create the perfect smartphone for any user, but we won’t find that out until the Lumia 950 is official. Although it was first being called the Lumia 940, sometime in the past few months rumors emerged that the company would be skipping a beat (like it did with Windows 9) and would introduce the Lumia 950 and 950 XL instead.

microsoft-lumia-950=photo-lumia-950-release-date-lumia-950-xl-price

There are a few features of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL that are sure things, confirmed by either the company or by circumstance. For instance, the Lumia 950 code-name is Talkman while the Lumia 950 XL code-name is Cityman. The former will sport a smaller, 5.2-inch display with QHD resolution, making this the real flagship device for Windows 10 Mobile. That’s because surveys have shown that the preferred screen size for smartphones is 5.2 inches, globally.

The Lumia 950 XL will be closer to Samsung’s Note line-up, sporting a 5.7-inch display with a similar QHD resolution. Although 4K has been mentioned, Microsoft is unlikely to choose that as it would add to costs significantly and thus the phones would be too expensive to make an impact. Speaking of price, there is some bad news there. Apparently, the Lumia 950 price will go above $700, and the XL will cost at least $800. That’s Apple-expensive, which might constitute a problem. Nonetheless, since pricing is nowhere near being official, the best way to go about it is to hope for the best at this point.

Price and availability for the new flagships will be announced at the launch event and those are probably the ones that you should be trusting. Take any information about unreleased devices with a grain of salt, as manufacturers can change things in the very last minute if they want to. Nonetheless, the sheer number of leaked photos and info about the Microsoft Lumia 950 is troubling, because it might mean pricing is also accurate.

microsoft-lumia-950-usb-type-c-wireless-charging-lumia-950-xl

Moving on to what should be the gem of both flagships: performance. Microsoft Lumia 950 specs include a Snapdragon 808 CPU, a Super AMOLED panel for the screen, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage and a 3000 mAh battery. The Microsoft Lumia 950 XL will be a more future-proof device, sporting the Snapdragon 810 CPU, backed by 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, and a larger 3300 mAh battery. Both these handsets might feature wireless charging, but USB Type C is a given.
The Lumia 950 XL might directly compete against the Galaxy Note 5, as rumors suggest the handset will have its own stylus, borrowed from the Surface Pro 4. With a stylus, the Lumia 950 Xl can easily become the ultimate handset for the crowd that loves the Note 5. With better note-taking features and a seamless user experience within Windows 10, not to mention a lot of Office involved, the Note 5 better watch out, Although adding a stylus does not sound like a big deal, it might be, seeing as Microsoft and Samsung are partners when it comes to office apps on the Note 5. Rivaling with one of their biggest partners might not be the best choice for Microsoft right now, so we’re a bit skeptical about the Lumia 950 XL stylus.

Since the Redmond giant is targeting the flagships at power users, features catering to them should be a given. As such, microSD support should be available on both the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL, with the latter having rumored support for up to 2 TB of storage, like the HTC One M9. MicroSD storage is a rarity with new flagship smartphones, and Microsoft might be taking advantage of that unfulfilled demand.

One of the reasons why Lumia became a popular brand was because of great cameras on most of the phones. Although we are expecting a Lumia 1030 camera-smartphone to grace us with its presence at the October 6 event, as well, it’s a bit unlikely for the company to launch three phones at the same time. Nonetheless, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL should feature excellent cameras, since they’re flagships and all.

The camera setup is said to be the same on both phones, even if their specs are not identical. 21 MP PureView cameras should be on the rear of each flagship, accompanied by optical image stabilization, laser autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. The front cameras should feature 5 MP wide-angle sensors, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a small flash being added into the mix either. There’s been talk of triple-LED flash or dual-cameras on the rear, too, but based on official press images, that seems unlikely.

With the Lumia 950 release date just a mere week away, Windows 10 and Lumia fans are getting more and more hyped about having the opportunity to upgrade within the Microsoft ecosystem. This reboot for the company’s devices has been long overdue. Considering that Windows 10 mobile will feature interesting new things like Continuum, the launch event should be filled with excitement. We’ll be back with more!

Nokia 9300

The Nokia 9300 is a Nokia Series 80 Symbian Smartphone introduced in 2004. It is used as a normal though bulky mobile phone in closed mode, when it is flipped open it can be used like a very small notebook computer with a 640×200 screen. The phone also has speakerphone functionally, which is activated automatically when the phone is flipped open.

The phone likewise has a speakerphone, which is enacted consequently when it was flipped open. It is as similar as to the 9500 Communicator; this less costly model was not authoritatively promoted under the Communicator name by Nokia.

It is actually the same as the 9500, with the same 150 MHz processor, MMC memory card ability, the same amount of memory and the same screen resolution and color intensity. Both cell phones run the same Symbian OS 7.0.

The Nokia 9300 was released shortly after the Nokia 9500 Communicator.

Although very similar to the 9500 Communicator, this less expensive model was not officially marketed under the Communicator name by Nokia.

In the United States, the 9300b was sold through Cingular's Business division.

The Nokia 9300i is an updated version with WiFi capability

Differences from the 9500 Communicator
- Smaller - 132 x 51 x 21 mm compared to the 9500's 148 x 57 x 24 mm
- Physically smaller screen with 9500's resolution that can be tilted full 180 degrees
- No Wi-Fi, except in 9300i
- No built-in camera
- Smaller battery - 970mAh BP-6M battery (later revisions of BP-6M are 1100mAh however) compared to the 9500's 1300mAh BP-5L
- Doesn't bear the traditional name "Communicator"

Other than changes listed above, it is technically the same as the 9500, with the same 150 MHz processor, MMC memory card capability, the same amount of memory and the same screen resolution and colour depth. Both phones run the same version 7 of the Symbian OS.

Variations in the 9300 line
The 9300 is the World version, with 900 MHz and 1800 MHz radios, plus 1900 MHz for North America. The 9300b is the North American model, with 850 MHz and 1900 MHz radios, plus 1800 MHz for world travel. Both, the 9300 and the 9300b will work in the U.S., but in the U.S the 9300b outperforms the 9300 in its ability to work in areas with weak cell coverage.

One can tell the 9300 and the 9300b apart by looking at the back of the phone. The 9300b has a portion next to the battery cover that is raised by approximately 2mm (1/16"). The model number is marked on the label underneath the battery. The label on a 9300 sold in Germany reads: "NOKIA Model: 9300 Type RAE-6". On a 9300b sold in the U.S.A the label reads: "NOKIA Model 9300/b Type: RA-4", and on a 9300i sold in Germany it reads: "Nokia Model 9300i Type: RA-8". Alternatively one can type *#0000# into the phone cover keypad in standby mode to display the model number.

The 9300's successor, the Nokia 9300i, restores Wi-Fi capability without adding a camera. The 9300i, so far, is only available with 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz radios. Latest official firmware version is 6.27 (released July 2006).

All variants of the 9300 include multi-profile Bluetooth and IR for interoperability, the Opera web browser, a POP3/IMAP/BlackBerry Enterprise Server-compatible/SMS/MMS e-mail and messaging client, the ability to create, read, write and edit native Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. The external display above the twelve-key dial pad on the exterior of the phone runs Series 40 applications, so texting and simple functions can be performed one-handed without opening the clamshell. There is "T9" option while messaging. The external keypad can autolock only if an unlocking code is set. The cellphone radio can be turned off while permitting applications to run, for in-flight use.

A wide selection of third party applications to enhance the 9300 series is available through multiple websites. The 9300 also runs Java applications but some of these are not compatible with the large and wide screen, such that many existing Java games will run, but only use the top left hand corner of the screen.

Nokia 808 PureView

The Nokia 808 PureView is a Symbian-powered smartphone first unveiled on 27 February 2012 at the Mobile World Congress. It is the first smartphone to feature Nokia's PureView Pro technology, a pixel oversampling technique that reduces an image taken at full resolution into a lower resolution picture, thus achieving higher definition and light sensitivity, and enables lossless zoom. It was one of the most advanced camera phones at the time of its release in May 2012.

The Nokia 808 features a 41 megapixel 1/1.2 in (10.67 × 8 mm) sensor and a high-resolution f/2.4 Zeiss all-aspherical 1-group lens. The 808's sensor to date remains the largest (over 4 times larger than typical compact cameras) and highest resolution sensor ever to be used in a cameraphone, a record previously held by Nokia's N8.

The 808 won the award for "Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet" at Mobile World Congress 2012, and the award for Best Imaging Innovation for 2012 from the Technical Image Press Association. It was also given a Gold Award by Digital Photography Review.

On 24 January 2013, Nokia officially confirmed the 808 Pureview to be the last Symbian smartphone. In July 2013, Nokia released the Lumia 1020, a successor running the Windows Phone operating system common to Nokia's newer products.

PureView Pro camera

PureView Pro is an imaging technology used in the Nokia 808 PureView device. It is the combination of a large 1/1.2 in,[11] very high-resolution 41 MP image sensor with high-performance Carl Zeiss optics. The large sensor enables pixel oversampling, which means the combination of many sensor pixels into one image pixel. PureView imaging technology delivers high image quality, lossless zoom and improved low light performance (see below). It dispenses with the usual scaling/interpolation model of digital zoom commonly used in other smartphones, as well as optical zoom used in most digital cameras, where a series of lens elements moves back and forth to vary the magnification and field of view. In both video and stills, this technique provides greater zoom levels as the output picture size reduces.

Image sensor

The Nokia 808 has a 41.3 megapixel 1/1.2 in CMOS FSI image sensor with 7728x5368 pixels. Pixel size is 1.4 µm; sensor size is 10.67 × 8.00 mm.

Depending on the aspect ratio chosen by the user, the sensor will use either 7728x4354 pixels (33.6 MP) for 16:9 images, or 7152x5368 pixels (38.4 MP) for 4:3 images when using the default camera software, although third-party apps exist that can capture the full resolution of the sensor. The output from the sensor is processed using the on-chip image processor, resulting in a lower-resolution image with pixel oversampling, lossless digital zoom, or a combination of both. The image processor highly reducing external processing needs and data rates as well as image noise (see noise shaping). At default settings, maximum zoom is 3x for stills (5 MP in a 16:9 aspect ratio) and 4x for video (1080p).

Zoom

Zoom is digital but retains a high resolution due to the 41 MP sensor. The limit of the zoom is reached when the selected output resolution becomes the same as the input resolution. That means once the area of the sensor reaches 3072x1728, the zoom limit is reached. So the zoom always provides the true image resolution the user wants. The level of pixel oversampling is highest when zoom is not used. It gradually decreases until the maximum zoom is hit, where there is no oversampling. At this stage, PureView Pro optics and pixels start behaving in a more conventional way. But because only the centre of the optics is used, the best optical performance is achieved – including low distortion, no vignetting and highest levels of resolved detail. This also means that at full digital zoom, the noise reduction achieved by oversampling (pixel binning) is lost as no oversampling happens at full zoom.

Autofocus

The 808 PureView compared to its successor, Lumia 1020
PureView Pro features continuous autofocus in all shooting modes, close-up (Macro) focus, face detection, touch focus with easy manually selected focus point and hyperfocal distance focus for defined depth of field, for extreme focus speed or when reliably achieving focus is not possible.

Video

The on-chip oversampling image processor of the 808 enables oversampling of all 38 megapixels even at the high video data rates of 1080p with 30 fps. Maximum possible zoom is 4x for 1080p, 6x for 720p HD and 12x for nHD (640x360) video. In addition, encoding is up to 25 Mbps in 1080p H.264/MPEG-4 HD video format. The PureView Pro sensor integrates a special video processor that handles pixel scaling at up to 1 billion pixels per second before sending the required number to the main image processor.

Lens

The camera of the 808 has a very large and noticeable hump
The 808 has Carl Zeiss 5-element 1-group lens with f/2.4 aperture and 8.02 mm focal length (35 mm equivalent focal length is 26 mm in 16:9 and 28 mm in 4:3 aspect ratio). Focus range is from 15 cm to infinity (throughout the zoom range).

The optics are based on a shiftable fixed-focus lens; similar to the prime lenses in most Zeiss Planar or Tessar optics, focus is achieved by varying the distance to the image sensor (unit focusing lens). This construction has the advantage that no movable focus group is needed. Considerable movable (focus-range) lens groups need a minimum of one additional adaptive lens element in both the moved group and the stationary group, increasing the number of elements by at least two. This increases unwanted reflections as well as overall tolerances and therefore decreases sharpness.

The lens consists of only 1 group with molded elements, which gives a highly stable, precise mechanical alignment. The lenses are partly made of plastic, which provides sufficient stability at this size and as a 1-group lens and has the significant advantage of making it possible to use extreme aspheric shaped lens elements.

5 all-aspherical lens elements are used, making it possible to increase border-sharpness and lower distortion and astigmatism. The high–refractive index, low-dispersion glass additionally helps reduce chromatic aberrations. A neutral density filter with approximately ND8 (3 f-stops) is employed for shooting in high light levels where normally a smaller aperture would be set. Although the lens is named a Tessar, it has almost nothing in common with the 4 element in 3 group, non-aspherical original Tessar.

Due to the comparatively large 1/1.2 in sensor and the comparatively fast lens with f/2.4 aperture, the camera has a quite shallow depth of field, equivalent to approximately f/7.8 at 26 mm on 35 mm full-frame.

Shutter

The 808 has a mechanical shutter with short shutter lag and ND8 (3 f-stops) neutral density filter.

Audio

The 808 PureView employs Dolby Headphone software to transform stereo content to surround via a 3.5 mm A/V jack. It also includes Dolby Digital Plus software to provide 5.1 surround sound via HDMI or DLNA. The dual software elements from Dolby are embedded into the Nokia Belle feature pack 1 OS.

The 808 PureView is the first device to include the Nokia Rich Recording technology and has a frequency range between 25 Hz to around 19 kHz. The 808 PureView can capture sounds at the loudness level of up to 145 decibels without distortion. The two microphones, located at the top and the bottom enable ambient stereo recording. The audio encoding is done in AAC high profile, 256 kbps, 48000 Hz.

New Lumia 950 render looks cool in white

As the official launch of Microsoft’s new flagships draws near their ship is leaking like a sieve.
The latest leak is a new render of the Lumia 950 in white.

We understand from other sources that this is not a fan render, but a so-called Factory CAD ie being used in manufacturing the device (and presumably going out to case makers).

The render does not reveal anything new, except that the Microsoft logo appears to be embossed, and that the handset will bear the Zeiss Pureview label.
The leaked specs of the Lumia 950 include:
  • 5.2? QuadHD
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core
  • 20MP PureView camera with OIS and dual-flash
  • 5MP front camera
  • 32GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM
  • 3000 mAh battery
  • USB Type-C

WhatsApp 2.13.8 Update Download Available for Nokia Asha

Today, we’re going to talk about a new WhatsApp version that has been released for the Symbian S40 devices such as the Nokia C3 or Nokia Asha. The new WhatsApp version is 2.13.8 and can be installed on your device that runs on Symbian S40. Unfortunately, the new WhatsApp version doesn’t come with new features, because the developers have focused on fixing some bugs that they’ve found in previous versions and they tried to improve the application’s performance.

WhatsApp 2.13.8: How To Install On Nokia Asha

It seems that the WhatsApp 2.13.8 is currently available on the Nokia Store, now known as Opera Mobile Store. To install it on your Nokia Asha device is quite easy, as all you will need to do is open the Opera Mobile Store, search for WhatsApp and finally install/update your WhatsApp application.
As we’ve told you above, you will not see any new features in the new WhatsApp version, but you will surely notice a slight overall improvement when it comes to the stability and performance.
It seems that the Voice Calling feature is still missing in the WhatsApp version for the Nokia Asha devices and we’re not sure if it will ever be added to the Symbian S40 operating system. We remind you that the Voice Calling feature is already available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10.

BlackBerry Priv is the company's first Android smartphone, and a major reboot effort

BlackBerry announced plans today to sell an Android-powered smartphone, in the latest reboot effort from the faded star of the sector. The Canadian firm said its would begin selling "Priv," described as "a flagship handheld device that will run on the Android operating system with BlackBerry security," expected to be available later this year.

"Priv combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform," said John Chen, executive chairman and chief executive. BlackBerry said however it "remains committed to the BlackBerry 10 operating system, which enables industry-leading security and productivity benefits." The company said it "will continue to develop and enhance the BlackBerry 10 operating system and is confirming plans to release platform updates focused on security and privacy enhancements," in March 2016.
The Priv, earlier known as the BlackBerry Venice, is rumoured to pack a 5.4-inch qHD display, a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 with 3GB RAM, an 18MP rear camera (with the dual-tone LED flash in the video), and a 5MP front cam.

The BB 10 operating system was unveiled in 2013 as part of an effort to regain market share lost as consumers around the world shifted to devices running on Google Android and Apple's iOS. But the operating system share has fallen further, and now represents less than one percent of smartphone users.

BlackBerry, one of the early pioneers of smartphones, has been struggling for years. It has made several efforts to find new customer niches, with low-cost devices, tablets and by shifting its emphasis to software and services. In releasing its quarterly results, BlackBerry said it swung to a profit of US $51 million for the three months running up to August 29, compared with a loss of US $207 million in the same period a year ago.

But the profit came from a one-time credit from an adjustment in the value of some of its debts.

Revenues for the period slumped 46 percent from a year ago to USD 490 million. "I am confident in our strategy and continued progress, highlighted by our fourth consecutive quarter of year-over-year double digit growth in software licensing revenue and sixth consecutive quarter of positive free cash flow," Chen said. "At the same time, we are focused on making faster progress to achieve profitability in our handset business." BlackBerry said it sold 800,000 smartphones at an average price of US $240. That represents a tiny fraction of a global smartphone market of some 300 million per quarter. The company said 15 percent of its revenue came from software and services, 41 percent for hardware, and 43 percent for service access fees.

gadgetshieldz Full Body Protection

Back in 2000's somewhere around 2002-3 some local shops started to do lamination over the complete phone with the hair drier. That was very good solution for protecting the keypad and body from damage.

The similar concept has been applied to now smartphones. Fee things has been changed, instead of hair drier we have self adjustable plastic and completely designed for a exclusive phone.

I searched a lot of items for some of my Lumia phones particularly for Nokia Lumia 1020, which has a big camera hump. If you apply full body case, the phone started to feels like palm talk not phone anymore. I want something sleek which can save the while shining of the phone. During searching in YouTube I get the "gadgetshieldz".

Let me tell you what exactly this product it is. It's "The Ultimate In Scratch Protection". They design this exactly for each phone no, which means you don't have to worry of fitting it in the phone, they are divided in pieces for each corner and they fit very fine. See the images below more details,

you can see each side has a different-2 designed piece that can fit the phone perfectly. The good thing is they claim its a complete scratch proof. Some of the Nokia phones like Lumia 1020, 930 etc has curved screen. There is no perfect tempered glass/screenguard that can fit it. We have tried it in various ways from various products. None that can fit except this.

See the various images of our lab phone lumia 1020, that we have applied this product. Its been 4 months we are  using it and its very fine and recommended for someone who don't like to put on extra cases and covers on their phone.

To apply this product there is different technique. All things will come from the package. Remember to order Installation Kit for the first use, it won't cost more but its safe to use genuine product. You can directly purchase it from the product website or from eBay India page also.
