News and Updates : Windows 10 Mobile Camera update brings “Image size for main camera” option

The native Camera app has received an update on Windows 10 Mobile. The update takes the app version to 2016.722.11.0. While the update doesn’t bring any visual changes if you go to settings you would be able to notice something new.

There is a new option “Image Size for main camera” which has a drop-down option. On devices like Lumia 950 / Lumia 950 XL it should allow to change the resolution for capturing images. But on other devices like Lumia 640 / XL it just allows one to see the image size when you change image Aspect ration in settings. May be with future updates it allows changing image size on other devices too.

Prisma Coming to Windows

Whats News In Windows : Prisma photo editing app coming to Windows 10 this month

Prisma is an amazing photo editing app that will soon come to the Windows 10 platform. The app is currently available only on the iOS platform, and the fact that the developer is planning to bring it to Windows 10 before releasing it to Android could point to a growing developer interest in Microsoft’s platform.

Prisma is a very popular app on iOS that allows users to apply a series of filters to their pictures, turning them into real artwork. The news that Prisma is coming to Windows 10 was actually confirmed by one of the company’s representatives, but he didn’t reveal how they would do that.

It is possible the Prisma app for Windows 10 could actually be a native Windows 10 app, or the developer could use a cross-platform technology to get the app from iOS to Windows.

Thanks to Prisma’s special filters, you pictures will look similar to Van Gogh’s and Picasso’s painting.

The app is free on the iOS platform, and it should also be free on Windows.

Prisma uses complex technology to edit your pictures with special effects generated by artificial intelligence and neural networks. The app is cloud-supported, which is a minor disadvantage because sometimes it may take a bit longer for the app to finish applying filters.

Prisma has a simple user interface and after taking a few pictures, you’ll get the hang of it. The app is perfect for social media sharing as you can easily share your pictures on Instagram and other websites.

However, there are also some disadvantages. For one, the app doesn’t offer before-and-after views. Very few photo-correction adjustments are made and as far as the picture format and size are concerned, you haven’t got much of a choice as the app produces only square images.

Although the developer hasn’t mentioned anything about the possibility of adding new features to the app, it is still possible that the upcoming Prisma app will introduce some Windows 10 exclusive features we’ll be able to test out once the app is released.

Windows Insider Program Update

Whats New In Windows : Here’s what happens after August 2nd for Windows 10 Insiders.

On August 2nd, Microsoft officially releases the Anniversary Update (aka Redstone 1 and Version 1607) for Windows 10. With over 350 million devices running Windows 10, Microsoft is betting big on this new update, which adds numerous new improvements to the Microsoft Edge browser, Cortana, and other key features across the operating system. The August 2nd release is scheduled to be a “global rollout” and not everyone will receive it on that day, but you have nothing to worry about if you are a part of the Windows Insider program.

As an Insider, you will have the Anniversary Update on August 2nd without any further action required. In fact, if you are running Windows 10 build 14393, you already have the Anniversary Update installed. Microsoft will be releasing additional updates and fixes to build 14393 like the recent KB3176925 which bumped the build number slightly from 14393 to 14393.3.

Those of you still enrolled in the Windows Insider program after August 2nd will begin to receive Redstone 2 builds. Redstone 2, for those curious, is the next big update to Windows 10 slated for Spring of 2017, news we exclusively revealed back in March of this year. Redstone 2 is slated to add new improvements and features that did not make the cut in Redstone 1 (aka the Anniversary Update).

Here’s what a Microsoft spokesperson told us:

“Windows Insiders will have the Anniversary Update on August 2nd, no further action will be required. We expect the build number to not change; however, additional updates and fixes are likely for both OS and Apps. After August 2nd, Windows Insiders will continue to receive new builds related to their choice of fast or slow rings.”

For those of you who are not enrolled in the Windows Insider program and are running Windows 10 version 1511, you will be able to download the Anniversary Update beginning August 2nd. It’s going to take time, so don’t freak out if you do not see the update available right away.

HP Elite X3 not coming to Verizon

HP’s upcoming flagship mobile device for Windows 10 Mobile, the Elite x3, is creating a lot of buzz in the mobile world – but as it is dubbed an enterprise-oriented device, will its indirect support for Verizon dampen its potential growth?



According to the latest documentation from HP, the device will not support band 13 LTE (via Neowin), which means that in order to run on Verizon’s network, it will need to be approved by them beforehand. So whilst there is still a chance that the device could work on Verizon’s network, there’s also an equal chance that it won’t. In order for it to be accepted on to the network, HP would need to ask for approval – and provided that Verizon approves, then the device would begin to function.

Verizon is pretty big in business, and as a business mobile device, failure to support the carrier could deal a big blow to the growth that this device could receive.

Don’t lose all hope just yet – but don’t buy into it thinking you’ll be perfectly fine, either.

W10M action center redesigned ???

Whats News in WIndows : Microsoft may be redesigning the Windows 10 Mobile action center

Microsoft redesigned the Windows 10 Mobile Action Center in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (due for release next month), but the firm may be planning a more drastic revamp of the Action Center in the future.

We (MSPowerUser) received an image of an document which we believe originates from an internal Microsoft communication demonstrating plans for the Action Center in future updates for Windows 10.

In the images above, you can see a proposed change to the action center which separates the action center buttons into “Actions” and “Toggles” with the addition of a brightness slider. The new change, which is reportedly based on internal feedback, would make the action center a bit more logical in scope.

As it stands, the action center is has a selection of buttons, some of which launch you into another app, others of which are toggle switches, it would in essence duplicate the control centre approach on iOS and make the Windows 10 Mobile action center more user friendly.

The “Actions” or “app shortcuts” are the camera, note, connect and all settings buttons which are now displayed as rounded buttons underneath the new brightness slider, which takes the place of the brightness toggle and is similar to the way the action center was presented in Windows 8.1 (Tablets and PCs)

If these changes are to be given the go ahead, they will most likely come in Redstone 2, which will come next year. Redstone 2 is expected to focus on changes to Windows 10 Mobile, perhaps providing more mobile first features and polish.
