oneplus 3 android n nougat update and features

OnePlus has rolled the first Android Nougat version to OnePlus 3 devices. Its is versioned to Oxygen 4.0.



While we have installed the latest software and played for many hours before writing this post. OnePlus 3 is a great hardware in terms of performance and speed. With the new Android N update the device is pretty amazing. Android N has its own set of unique features and tweaks added to older Android Marshmallow.

Note :

According to OnePlus,

After upgrading to Android N, you will not be able to directly downgrade back to M builds. Our customer service team has a special build of Android M that will allow you to downgrade, but this will format your device. If you'd like to flash back to M

So decide accordingly to install the beta software. Make sure to take proper backup before you install.

Setup Configuration

In oorder to flash the file, you need adb and fastboot to configure. Use the below link to install the adb and fastboot.

Also I will suggest to watch the video below on seeing the steps to completely root your oneplus 3. Please note the file version used in video may have been changed.



Installation Guide : 

Non ROOT Devices

Make sure you have doenloaded the ROM with the link given. Copy the file to Internal Memory,

Now start the process,
  1. Go to settings
  2. Select developer mode / option
  3. Enable advance reboot.
  4. Hold power button
  5. Select Reboot
  6. Select Recovery mode
  7. Select Install from Internal Storage
  8. It will show the folders of internal memory and you can direct to the location where you have saved the file and click ok.

ROOTED Devices

Installing with this is very easy though. If you have rooted your oneplus 3 then install the TWRP custome recovery, ANd flash the build by going under Install section and select the zip file. FOr more detailed steps read this post.

First Impression :

Performace

Overall the performance is good. With a few crash of system apps like settings initially, everything works smooth. Still we are checking and figuring out broken points.

Battery

Battery life seems to be above average. Official Oxygen os gives a decent 5 hours 30 min of screen on time. This beta build seems to give near to 5 hours as seens from the currenr stats.



Speed Test :

We compared the OnePlus 3 with the Google Pixel XL running the latest Stock Android Nougat 7.1, and to be surpised oneplus 3 performs almost same and in heavy games it does loads the games much faster compared to Pixel XL. To know more watch the video below,
