Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ to be announced on August 12: Report
After a string of rumours revealing the specs and features of Galaxy Note 5 and Edge Plus (edge+), a new report finally reveals the launch dates.
According to a report by Samsung tipster SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Edge Plus (edge+) are expected to be announced on August 12, and will be up for grabs starting August 21. Along with these devices, the company will also announce Samsung Pay, apparently starting with only the US market.
All along we’ve been hearing that the Note 5 will feature a 2K or 4K Super AMOLED display and come powered by an Exynos 7422 processor. The report also points out that the device will be blown-up version of the Galaxy S6 featuring a metal- glass design and the microSD card will be given a miss. One of the biggest differentiator for the Note series has been its stylus. The new stylus will also go a few design changes. The stylus will be colour-coordinated with the device that is expected to be available in silver, gold, black and white options.
Some of the previous reports have been hinting at 5.7-inch display, YSB 2.0 Flash memory, 4100 mAh battery and USB 3.1 Type-C port.
With the Galaxy S6 edge+, one can expect the curved display on both sides. SamMobile confirms that the device will be powered the Exynos 7420 instead of a Snapdragon 808. It will include 3GB of RAM. The storage options may remain the same as seen in Galaxy S6 with 64GB as the base model.
Going by the previous leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is likely to come equipped with 5.5-inch display, 16MP rear camera with OIS, 5MP front-facing camera, 4K video recording and a 3,000mAh battery.
We aren’t really sure what’s Samsung’s strategy behind releasing two premium handsets at the same time, considering the probability of the more popular Note series eating into the Edge sales.
