Nokia brick phone is 15 years old

The Nokia brick phone is 15 years old and everyone still loves it

Can you believe it’s been over a decade since the arrival of the Nokia brick phone? Neither can we.

Yesterday marked the 15th anniversary of the launch of the Nokia 3310, which went on to sell 126 million models worldwide up until 2011 when it was retired.

It’s also gained a bit a cult status, with many taking to social media to declare the model as ‘the greatest phone of all time’ to mark the occasion.

As technology fans eagerly await the new iPhone 6S – battery-life woes and all – the original brick phone is still fondly remembered.

And who wouldn’t, considering the number of memorable features that were rare at the time: monophonic ringtones, monochrome display, a calculator and, of course, the ability to send text messages up to 459 characters.

Though many internet users on the anniversary mostly recalled its apparent indestructibility, long battery-life and the frustratingly addictive game Snake II.
