BlackBerry Venice with Android leaked photos show the phone up close
The BlackBerry Venice may be tech’s worst kept secret right now. The Android-powered slider phone has been leaking pretty much non-stop, and these latest unofficial photos offer our best look yet at rumored handset.
Courtesy of Android Authority, the new leak brings us an up-close look at the new hardware along with a few new details on how BlackBerry plans to modify Android. The basic bones of Google’s operating system are still there, but there’s plenty of extra software on top. That includes special widgets and shortcuts to BlackBerry’s services, though it’s up to you whether you want to use them or not. The device’s boot animation is not pictured, but it allegedly shows Google’s Android mascot holding a shield to emphasize the phone’s extra security features.
As for the hardware, we get a good look at the phone’s rumored 5.4-inch display, flanked by sloping bezels on either side. There’s also an 18-megapixel camera in back and a Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood. As for that slide-out physical keyboard, it appears to pack a few shortcut keys along with the standard QWERTY layout.
There’s still no word on when BlackBerry plans to unveil the Venice, though it probably won’t be much longer now. We really can’t wait to get our own hands on the company’s first Android device, though these new photos aren’t a bad substitute in the meantime.
