BlackBerry Venice officially christened “BlackBerry Priv”

A quick recap of the BlackBerry Venice storyline so far: just as BlackBerry initiated plans to “bring Android to work,” rumors and renders of this phone initially surfaced a few months ago, with all the confusion floating around how Android might be involved in the software. The slow roll to more specs and details got us to the four-minute device tour video we got last week. And now, we can confirm that the Venice is no more.

Reminiscing of narrow waterways, romantic stone architecture and when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie got us to the all-new “BlackBerry Priv.” Enforcement of either a single or two pronunciations cannot be confirmed at this point, so you might not want to say it out loud. But with “security” being BlackBerry’s buzzword of record, it’s not a stretch to see the word “privacy” also get thrown out and stylized.

Evan Blass first put out the new moniker on Twitter and N4BB was able to confirm the name with its Canadian sources.
