Microsoft has been widely expected to launch the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL smartphones this year that will be powered by its new Windows 10 Mobile operating system. There have been a slew of rumors surrounding the specifications of these two upcoming devices, but they could all have amounted to nothing, if new rumors are to be believed. The latest speculation about  Windows 10 phones is that the Redmond-based software giant plans to completely skip the Lumia 940 generation and instead come out with the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL Windows 10 powered smartphones. This means that the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL may never make it to the market, and we could see a completely new Lumia 950 generation smartphones on the shelves.

This piece of news has come from a Chinese tech blog dedicated to Windows Phone, named WPXAP, which claims that Microsoft will unveil the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL as its newest flagship duo, thus giving the Lumia 940 a skip. Both the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL will ship with Windows 10 Mobile out of the box and are expected to be released between October and November this year.
