Probable pricing & launch timelines.
We (NPU) were the first ones to report about Microsoft working on two Lumia Windows 10 Mobile flagships and while we called them Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, we never claimed that we knew their market release name exactly. We exclusively shared more info about Lumia 940 XL key specs and features later. Similarly we also shared more info about Lumia 940.
Lately there have been some rumors in
blogsphere about the names of the two upcoming Lumia flagships. Some
rumors claim that Microsoft may release these two devices as Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
We reached to our sources to verify this
claim and one of the sources has confirmed that these two devices may
be launched as Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. But a word of caution here,
as other sources don’t confirm or claim that it may not be the case and Microsoft may be planning a new naming-scheme for upcoming devices. So, at this stage we put this as 50 : 50 chance of coming true.

Now we have some info about when these devices can be announced. Our sources tell us to expect some announcements in the month of September-October. While September time-frame is full one month wide, we are told to expect a late September to early October time for the devices to be made known to world. But not only these two there may be more device announcements and we can expect mid-rangers too. Some new accessories meant for “continuum for phones“, New Treasure Tag and some headsets may also be announced. These devices running Windows 10 Mobile will ship soon after the announcement and by end of October may be available in some markets.
Pricing wise, our sources expect a
premium pricing, but nothing astronomical. Lumia 950 may be costlier
than the (launch pricing of Lumia 930) with a difference ranging from
$50-100 depending upon the market, while Lumia 950 XL may come with a
pricing similar to the launch pricing of Lumia 1520.
