Xperia
Z owners in the US, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Bangladesh are in for some
good news, as Sony has just rolled out the latest Android 5.0.2 official
update via over-the-air (OTA) with firmware build number 10.6.A.0.454.
As the official firmware is being rolled out in phases, it
may not yet be available across all countries at the same time.
Furthermore, the OTA update can only installed on devices with locked
bootloader and stock Lollipop firmware onboard.

Prerequisites
- Verify that the USB debugging option is enabled under Menu > Settings > Developer Options.
- Ensure that the Xperia Z has at least 50% battery charge before you continue with the firmware installation steps.
- The instructions and software provided in this tutorial are meant for the Xperia Z model only. Attempting this procedure on any other variant could permanently damage or brick the device.
- Make sure that all security programs including Antivirus tools on the computer are disabled, before you proceed.

Steps to update Sony Xperia Z with official Android 5.0.2 10.6.A.0.454 Lollipop firmware
Step 1: Download the official Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for your device from the above links to your computer.
Step 2: Also download the Sony FTF update
file to your computer, and copy both the firmware and FTF files to the
desired folder on the desktop.
Step 3: Then copy and paste the FTF update file to the following directory: C:/Flashtool/firmwares
Step 4: Run the Flash Tool on the computer
and then load the FTF update package that you want to install on the
handset by choosing the Lollipop firmware file, which you downloaded
earlier to your computer.
Step 5: Hit the Flash button at the lower right corner of the tool.
Step 6: Ensure that all three options are
selected from the Wipe Menu of the Flash tool. Finally, select the
option "No Final Verification" at the bottom.
Step 7: You will be prompted to connect your Xperia Z to the computer via USB cable.
Step 8: Power off the Xperia phone and then press and hold Volume Down button while creating the connection between the phone and the computer.
Step 9: The Xperia Z will now automatically boot into flash mode and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware will get installed.
Step 10: Just reboot the phone and you are all set to enjoy the new Lollipop firmware on your Xperia Z.
