Lumia 940 specs: Upcoming phone to carry cancelled McLaren aka Lumia 1030 features

The upcoming Lumia may benefit from a feature of the highly anticipated yet canceled Nokia phones.

When images leaked last year of a purported 50 MP monster phone, most tech observers said that it was the fabled Nokia 1030 aka McLaren. There were even reports of the device's spec sheet. The Lumia 1030 apparently will sport only a 20 MP camera, but with much more features. In a report by The Verge, it said "It's not a 50-megapixel shooter as some have speculated. Sources familiar with Microsoft's plans tell The Verge that the device was designed to look like a successor to the Lumia 1020, but that the camera was around 20 megapixels in reality and similar to the Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520."

In the specs sheet overview by noted phone website GSM Arena, the phone was not yet canceled, but instead is rumored to debut in the second quarter of the year. It will have a 5.0-inch display with Corning Gorilla 4 glass for protection, a 441 ppi pixel density at 1080p full quad HD and will sport the upcoming Windows 10 Mobile.

However, the phone seems to be in the back burner, as reports already surfaced that Microsoft already killed the McLaren project. Details are scarce if the company will be reviving the successor to the Lumia 1020 in the future.

The next big thing to come for the Lumia flagship might be the 940, and WindowsBlogItalia reports that it will at least carry one of the canceled McLaren's features.

According to the report written by WM Power User, the upcoming Lumia 940 will sport the Mixview feature that would take advantage of the 3D Touch feature for the home tiles. For those with non-3D Touch features, the phone will instead react in Mixview by users touching a corner area of the tiles.
Aside from the Mixview feature, the upcoming Lumia 940 is also rumored to have a biometric sensor and dock functions.
